ART CLASS SAUDI ARABIA

The last months I've been teaching art in Saudi Arabia. My students learned mostly the basics, like how you can draw what you see in the right proportions ( to measure with basic unit, measure corners, negative,light and shadowforms ) and put all of this in the right relationship with each other. How to use elements of image such as composition, color, value and lines, so that you can communicate to the viewer what you want to tell with your art. I also thaught them some tecniques, like how to use pencil, colorpencil, pastel, watercolor and acrilics. It was great fun and I hope that they will all continue to draw and paint!

MASTERCLASS REALISME IN AQUAREL

Om deze zeer realistische aquarellen te verkrijgen is gebruik gemaakt van een speciale afspoeltechniek, die verhindert dat zich teveel pigment opbouwt en de kleuren helder blijven. Wat ik tevens heb behandeld zijn specifieke kleureigenschappen van aquarelpigmenten zoals transparant/ opaak / "staining".

MASTERCLASS REALISM IN WATERCOLOR

To obtain this very realistic results we have been using a special rinsing technique to avoid a too thick layer of pigments. This way the colors will stay bright. I also taught about color properties like transparent/  opaque/ "staining".

WORKSHOP KENNISMAKING AQUAREL

Thema's die behandeld zijn in deze workshop: wit uitsparen, glaceren, hoe hou ik mijn kleuren helder, kleurenleer, werken op nat en droog papier, opspannen van papier, penseeltechniek (sumi-é), toonwaarden en licht in aquarel, diepte, opzetten in aquarel zonder gebruik van potlood en correcties in aquarel. De groep heeft heel hard gewerkt en het was ontzettend leuk weer een echte aquarelgroep te mogen begeleiden!

WORKSHOP BASIC WATERCOLOUR

What I did with my students in this workshop: leave the whites open, make thin layers, how can I make my colors stay brilliant, color theory, paint on wet and dry paper, stretch the paper, brush technique (sumi-é), values and making light in watercolour, depth, start the painting without using pencil and making corrections in watercolour. The group worked very hard and it was a great pleasure for me to teach a watercolourclass again!
